A Short

message

The impact of the California fires is truly heart-wrenching. It’s hard to fathom the devastation many are facing, but it’s inspiring to see so many generous souls stepping up to lend a hand. My heart is with everyone who has been affected during these challenging times.

In the spirit of support, I did what I love most—COOK!

A few days ago, I whipped up a big pot of comforting Carrot Curry soup, and shared with my community in Santa Monica. I’ve also decided to gather a list of fantastic businesses and individuals eager to help out in any way they can.

If you know someone in need, please share this with them, and if you find yourself needing support, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re all in this together!

The information below is subject to change. Please contact businesses and individuals directly for their updated news.

Resources For

Ash + Debris Removal

The first phase of removal is the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will remove asbestos, propane tanks, lithium batteries etc from the area affected.

The second phase is The US Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) will be responsible for removing ash and debris. All homeowners must first submit a completed Right of Entry (ROE) application to allow the USACE permission to perform the removal on your property.

Entering Burn Zone

It is not recommended for anyone to enter burn zone areas. If you choose to do so anyway, please follow these steps.

  • Use a painting respirator (preferred) or K95 mask
  • Use gloves
  • Wear a full hazmat suit
  • Wear thick soled boots with booties
  • After your venture, take off boots and keep them in a trash bag, in a box, in the trunk along with the suit

Many people who did not follow the steps above, experienced chemicals burns, lung issues, and nails pierced their boots. Please be safe and wait for officials to give the green light of entry.

Other Tips

  • Stay indoors with windows closed
  • Use K95 or N95 Masks
  • DO NOT exercise outside
  • DO NOT use gas stoves, fire places or vacuums – they stir up indoor air
  • If you have AC, run it on recirculate and use a MERV 13+ furnace filter
  • Use HEPA air purifier in bedrooms and living rooms
  • Filter drinking and cooking water with a reverse osmosis or quality system
  • Drink at least 90oz ot filtered water or tea daily. Note: peppermint tea supports the respiratory system.
  • Eat inflammatory foods such as: ginger, turmeric, garlic, dark leafy greens, and fatty fish
  • Try a Magnesium supplement or spray to support the bodies naturaldetoxificationprocess and help regulate your cortisol levels.
  • Use a neti pot or saline rinse to reduce ongestion
  • Use NAC nebulizers as hydration and antioxidant support for lung tissue
  • Seek supplement oxygen at a hospital or urgent care if you have significant exposure
